Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation (UPDESCO)

The Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation (UPDESCO) is a premier Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) of the Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP), established in March 1977 with the objective of strengthening the state’s technological and digital infrastructure. Initially functioning under the administrative control of the Planning Department, UPDESCO was later brought under the Department of Information Technology & Electronics (IT&E), Government of Uttar Pradesh, in 1999, reflecting its growing strategic importance in the state’s IT ecosystem.

UPDESCO plays a critical role in providing comprehensive system support and technology-driven solutions to both Government departments and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs). Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services (ITeS) form the core strength of the organization, enabling it to act as a State Nodal Agency for planning, implementing, and managing a wide range of IT and digital initiatives across Uttar Pradesh.

The corporation’s operational domain is broad and diversified. UPDESCO is actively involved in the procurement, supply, installation, and maintenance of computer hardware and software, as well as the delivery of training, consultancy services, and human resource solutions. It supports various e-governance projects and digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and service delivery within government systems.

In addition to IT and ITeS services, UPDESCO has expanded its capabilities into emerging and infrastructure-focused areas such as the erection and commissioning of solar power systems, Smart City projects, and other technology-enabled development programs. Through these initiatives, the organization contributes to sustainable development, digital inclusion, and modernization of public services across the state.
